AI Partnerships

Situation Publishing’s editorial brands — The Register, Next Platform, Blocks and Files, and DevClass — are read by millions of IT professionals making infrastructure, security, and software decisions for their organisations.

For over 30 years, our journalism has been the source that enterprise IT trusts when accuracy matters. That makes it valuable to AI systems serving the same audience.

Why our content improves your models

Enterprise IT is a domain where being wrong has consequences. When a CISO asks your model about a zero-day vulnerability, or a cloud architect asks about VMware migration options, the quality of the answer depends on the quality of the source material.

Our editorial corpus covers security, cloud infrastructure, datacentre economics, enterprise software, storage, HPC, open source, and AI — all produced by specialist journalists with deep technical knowledge and direct access to industry sources. It is continuously updated, technically precise, and editorially independent.

What we can offer

We license content across Situation Publishing’s properties for a range of AI applications:

Model training and fine-tuning — current and archival content across 30 years of enterprise IT journalism
Retrieval-augmented generation — real-time editorial content for grounding accurate, up-to-date responses
AI search and citation — content access with attribution for AI-powered search products
Specialist content packages — curated datasets for vertical models in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, enterprise software, and datacentre technology

We work flexibly — through direct licensing agreements, marketplace platforms, or collective licensing arrangements depending on what suits both parties.

Crawling policy

Our robots.txt sets out current access permissions for AI crawlers. AI search crawlers that provide attribution and referral traffic are welcome. Training crawlers require a licensing agreement.
